2ND NATIONAL SUMMIT ON PUBLIC WARNING IN AMERICAOn June 28, 2004 the Partnership for Public Warning hosted the 2nd National Summit on Public Warning in America. Almost 100 emergency managers and experts from local and state government, the federal government and the private sector met with representatives from the public interest and special needs communities, and the public, to discuss the state of public warning in America. An informal poll indicated that 100% of those in attendance were dissatisfied or extremely dissatisfied with the current state of public warning. The attendees identified several key issues and agreed that a public-private partnership such as PPW is needed to provide a forum where government and industry can work together to improve the nation’s public warning capability.
